Survivor

Survivor: Here is a new design for a very cool long, short sleeve t-shirt or a nice warm sweatshirt for the winter. I think this design is pretty cool and anyone can buy one for being a winner/survivor of anything. Of course I will wear mine for being a cancer survivor! Next month, November 19th, I will be celebrating my 8 year anniversary of being in remission!

Cool Monkey t-shirts

A two month anniversary may be a short anniversary but for me it is huge because of what has happened part of last year and into this year. Two months ago today, July 20th, I had heart surgery. I am very thankful that I'm doing well but would appreciate your prayers as I continue to recover. Pray specifically for energy to return. I would also appreciate your prayers for disability I have applied for. In the mean time I am continuing to sell my Japanese proverb t-shirts to help with medical expenses and daily expenses. I do have some new ones in with different colors such as red,maroon,black,blue, and gray from sizes small to large. If you need a larger size just let me know.

Japanese Garden in Portland

I had a wonderful trip to Portland,Oregon where I went to one of my favorite places, The Japanese Garden. It was a beautiful day filled with walking through the garden,taking pictures, and feeling like I was back in Japan.

In Memory of my mom

My mother was such a huge support during my battle. I was the second child in my family to deal with this, unfortunately my little sister Angie passed away from the disease in 1978. I never knew how hard it was to lose someone so close that I loved dearly until my mother passed away January 30th,2008. This is a picture of my dear mother and me that I will cherish forever until I see her again in heaven. I thank God that I had such a wonderful mom.

Hello and welcome to my blog or in Japanese "Konnichiwa" and "Yokoso" to my blog. Thank you for coming and checking out my blog and checking out my "Gan Shourisha" Cancer Survivor and "Gan Shourisha wa watashi no tomo" which can be read Cancer survivors are my friends or My friend is a survivor of a cancer depending on if you read from top to bottom or vice-versa.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-hodgkins Lymphoma in Japan on April 6th, 2001. I then returned to Oklahoma one week later and less than 3 weeks after I arrival I began chemotherapy treatments. I went into clinical remission after six months of chemotherapy but in order to keep my cancer from coming back I had a stem cell transplant. My brother Doug matched as a donor which was amazing considering there was only a 25% chance that he would match. I wish I could say everything was smooth sailing after that but it wasn't. I went through a rejection phase which affected my heart,skin, and my muscles to atrophy. When I was 32 years old I couldn't even get up from the ground because I had no leg strength. I have spent nearly 4 years in physical therapy to build muscle back up, to gain flexibility, and to learn how to get up from the floor.

On November 19th,2008 I will celebrate my 7th anniversary of my stem cell transplant. I am so thankful for the healing that has taken place in my life. I thank God for those who supported me during difficult times.
